The time passed by and you kept on learning, but still find yourself in a complicated situation of objects to close each other or stucking in walls while zooming or clipping of objects or hard to work with , i know the pain when you see renders of someone else with so much high realism and when you start to model ,u find yourself in a wet-mud,
Now , less with talking and starting to unleash the secrets i learned ,of how to make and model an interior scene with ease , now believe me these are my personal secrets , so follow them carefully :)
Step No 1: first of all make the FOV aka field of view greater , now that can be accessed differently on different versions of sketch up , for my case i am using Sketch up 2017
that is : Camera>field of view
fig.2 before changing field of view
Now , by default it is at 45 degrees , change that to 75 , now what will happen is that you can simply view more in single view ,
fig.2 after changing FOV
So , luckily half of the problem is now solved, now whats next , still not satisfied ,
alright then ,lets have the second round
Step No 2: The second best thing you can do is just relax , well i was joking , no relaxing is allowed for a designer lol ,
The second thing i would like to recomend is making the walls invisible , believe me it the best tweak i have ever heard of , in 3dmax you can simple switch of the walls view from outside but in sketch up we should be doing some of the work by our selves , its very simple, just follow the steps ,
1- erase all the out side face of walls from out side , we all know in sketch up the walls are composed of two planes , which is very helpful for sections cutout but in interior design we need a surface which should be called wall and thats it! i mean thats!it! , so no bullsh*t of stucking inside walls while rotating and orbiting views inside the rooms ,
2- now secondly you should make the walls invisible , so that if accidently you came out from the house or the room you are desiging you can simple go inside from where you left :
Fig : erasing external wall faces and before applying glass material
thanks to sketch ups support for two face textures , from that ideology you can simply apply two different materials on the same surface but on two different opposite sides ,
Fig : after applying glass material
So ,if in case your interior wall also got glass material it can simply be change to wall color you want and the other one will stay at its place, the figure below shows untouched interior scene with exterior face tranparent,
Step No 3: Now this is not a step but an advice , if you a laptop or desktop with 4 gb of ram or if even above it and still gets long time to open interior scenes , then there is a good and a bad news for you ,
The Bad NEWS: is that it will be nearly impossible for you to work with interior models , the reason is because as soon you start adding models downloaded from internet suchas sofas, beds, chanlers, carpets , you scene start to grow in size , and what that means is that your sketch file size may exceed up to 200-400 mb , and that size can not be hanlded with a 4 gb ram , you might be able to open a large size file from some one else but it will be impossible for you to model one , and similarly even navigating through it will give you lags ,
The GOOD News : is that you can increase your ram size by simple plugging new rams , sounds simple isnt it , but an upgrade of 4gb ram to 8 gb is a life changing experiance ,
Secondly , if opening a large sketch up file takes a long time to open or if even doesn't opens anyway , then its time for software upgrade , believe me upgrading to sketch up 2017 from 2015 is a decision i never regret, the file opening time for me reduced from 15 minutes to 15 seconds ,, unbelievable!! , may be sketch up 2017 without vray is doing some game here , who knows until a stable vray 3.0 is out , and we test it !
My final render looked like this :
